We live in a small house. Seriously- 4 (sometimes 5) people in a two bedroom townhouse. When we moved in (2004) there were only three of us so we had a LOT more room. Our master bedroom had enough room that my craft space actually took up half of it and we still had plenty of space for the actual bedroom stuff. When we had our daughter in 2007, she and all her tiny baby things lived in our walk in closet. When she got too big for her crib and subsequent toddler bed, my beautiful craft space had to be moved to make room for the new (pink!) "big-girl bed." It all got thrown in the basement next to the washer and dryer. When I needed something for a project I just climbed over the piles and rooted around in bins until I found it. You can imagine the mess. Or not, so here's a photo:
Gross, huh? Yeah, not the most "inspiring" space. One day I couldn't find wire (or ribbon or glue) and got fed up. I posted the disgusting before photos on Facebook in an effort to shame myself into cleaning and organizing my stuff into a usable area. It worked! Two days, and much cursing, later I was finally satisfied. Behold the magnificence:
Stunning right? Of course it's now been a month since I cleaned it and I still haven't made anything. One goal at a time...
