Report from quarantine- Lesson #3

Just a quick note from the pit of near death that is my home. Munchkin and I are suffering from the ill effects of breaking the rule of lesson 3:

Do not throw a birthday party at the height of cold and flu season in Ohio.

I think Munchkin is coming down with strep throat and I seem to have been infected with the stomach bug from hell.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

I know my son is no longer a baby. What I don't accept is that he is already interested in girls. Interested in a five year old sort of way. Everywhere we go he seems to befriend a little girl. There could be 50 little boys and a single girl, and he'll pick the girl every time. He starts many conversations with me about when he "grows up and finds a pretty wife and has kids."

My friend Blondie swears that he will never have a girlfriend that I will like. I whole- heartedly agree. There is not one thing those girls will try that I haven't done myself. They'll be good to my baby, or they'll be toast. I now understand why my mom never liked any of my boyfriends (I'll admit some of them were freaks, but others were "normal"). No one will ever be good enough for my little boy.

Happy Birthday Munchkin!!!

Today is Munchkin's 5th birthday! So in honor of this special day that makes me feel incredibly old, I give you photos of my favorite kid in the whole world.

This was his "in the hospital" photo. For some reason he turned the color of an Oompa Loompa when I scanned it.
One of many messy faced photos of him. If he didn't have food in his armpits, he wasn't enjoying the meal.
This was taken the winter he was two years old. We started building a snow fort but never finished.

Munchkin's best buddy in the world was his ""Little PaPaw." My grandfather (he passed away in December) thought Munchkin hung the moon. This is the two of them fixing the car when Munchkin was three.

And this in my Munchkin now. He's grown up so fast. He is one inch shy of being 4ft tall and weighs 60lbs. He starts soccer in the Spring and kindergarten in the Fall.

I never intended to be a mother. It wasn't something I aspired to be. But when Munchkin came along I realized I would never be a mother. I would be a mommy instead. And that is so much better. Happy Birthday sweet pea, I love you!

Music w/ a message #3

A long time ago this song held a lot of meaning to me. Everytime I hear it, it takes me back to a time when things were simpler and life seemed good all the time. When the biggest worry was making it home before curfew. I love my life now, and wouldn't change a thing. But this song takes me back to a bittersweet moment of time in my life. So for a flashback to my younger days, I give you this:

Artist: Deana Carter Lyrics
Song: Strawberry Wine Lyrics

He was working through college on my grandpa's farm
I was thirsting for for knowledge and he had a car
I was caught somewhere between a woman and a child
When one restless summer we found love growing wild
On the banks of the river on a well beaten path
Funny how those memories they last

Like strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine

I still remember when thirty was old
My biggest fear was September when he had to go
A few cards and letters and one long distance call
We drifted away like the leaves in the fall
But year after year I come back to this place
Just to remember the taste

Of strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine

The fields have grown over now
Years since they've seen a plow
There's nothing time hasn't touched
Is it really him or the loss of my innocence
I've been missing so much

Like strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine

A HNT 1st- My Rear End!!

Okay, so since my friends and family see this blog on a fairly regular basis, I've kept my HNT photos pretty tame. I decided that all that was just a form of censorship, and I have some loud opinions on censorship, it was time to uncensor myself. So, to flaunt my opinion of censorship on personal expression, I give you all my backside:

Okay, so censorship issues aside, I want my family and friends to still talk to me tomorrow. Happy HNT guys, from me and my backside circa 1982!
